Big Red Wrestling offers individuals an introduction to wrestling, teaching fundamental techniques, physical fitness and important life skills like discipline, respect, and sportsmanship. Wrestling is also a great foundation for all sports. It teaches the fundamental skills (balance, hand eye coordination, footwork, strength, etc.) necessary for any other physical activity. Our goal is to endure they have a fun and positive experience with the sport of wrestling.
Practices will be held at NAMS Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The program begins December 2nd and runs through March 19th. (No practices when the school is closed for holidays/vacation.) The fee for the program is $200 for the program and includes a crew neck sweatshirt.
Competitions are optional and will have additional fees. To compete in tournaments an USA Wrestling membership ($50) needs to be purchased. Tournament fees vary with and average cost of $40 per tournament.

Why are we here?
Mission: Create an environment to foster a love for the sport of wrestling. Wrestling is a foundational sport that increases core strength, agility, balance, body awareness, and mental toughness. Athletes who engage in wrestling will improve their overall athleticism and foster success in their other athletic endeavors.
Who will be running the program?
Club Director: Geoff Burgess
Coach Burgess has been a part of wrestling in North Attleboro for over 25 years. During that tenure, the high school wrestling program has won 19 sectional championships and two state championships. Coach Burgess currently serves as the head coach of the high school team and as a physical education teacher at the high school.

Greg Berthiaume - Former NAHS Wrestler, 2x State Finalist, 2x Sectional Champion. Current football player at Plymouth State.

What will we learn?
Technical Focus: The BRWC will create an environment that encourages mastery over results. Success will be measured by mastering the techniques of wrestling, not winning matches. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of body position and stance. They will learn basic defensive and offensive techniques. Athletes will also focus on general athletic improvement in the areas of strength, agility, and balance.
Will we be competing?
Competition: Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in tournaments on the weekends. These competitions are optional. For those athletes who wish to compete, they must join USA Wrestling ($50 membership) and cover their own tournament costs ($30-40 average cost of tournament). Coaches will commit to attending 3 tournaments during the season, as well as post-season competitions.
